BEIRUT: A man was shot in the neck by his cousin Wednesday in the Baalbek neighborhood of Sharawneh, the National News Agency reported.

Hamdan Jaafar was shot when a dispute between members of the Jaafar family in Sharawneh turned violent. The victim, 28, was taken to Rayan Hospital where he died of his injuries soon after being admitted.

Police and army personnel arrived at the scene of the shooting and cordoned off the area.

The alleged shooter, who is the victim’s cousin, fled the scene. Meanwhile, Baalbek Mayor Hashem Othman headed a municipal delegation to discuss the security situation in the city.
