BEIRUT: The Army arrested 500 people of different nationalities on various charges during the month of November, according to a statement it issued Monday.
As a result of security measures taken by army units across the country, army personnel arrested 500 people, some of whom had warrants issued for their arrest.
Others were arrested on charges of illegal residency, drug dealing, possession of drugs and driving vehicles without a license.
The army also confiscated 45 cars, two tanker trucks, 13 motorcycles, and a fishing boat in addition to large amounts of weapons, ammunition, drugs, cigarettes and smuggled fuel.
“Those arrested as well as the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant authorities for appropriate measures,” the statement added.
