Palestinian admits to setting 14 vehicles, store on fire

BEIRUT: A Palestinian man arrested Sunday confessed to setting over 14 vehicles and a furniture store on fire over the past two weeks, a statement by Internal Security Forces said Monday.

Police arrested Palestinian National Ahmad Hasan, who was near a furniture store that was set on fire Sunday.

Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to setting ablaze over 14 vehicles, including six cars and seven small pickup trucks, as well as the furniture store.

Hasan said he would target vehicles with windows left open, light a piece of cloth on fire and throw it inside, the statement said, adding that he confessed to carrying out the crimes while intoxicated and gave no motive.

Two people who were arrested along with Hasan Sunday are no longer being investigated for the crimes.
