Brawl turns into shootout in Faraya, 3 wounded

BEIRUT: Three people were wounded in gunfire Friday after an argument turned violent in Faraya, northeast of Beirut, security sources told The Daily Star.

They said the brawl between the Mhanna and Khalil families was over a long running construction-related dispute.

Residents of the two communities took out their guns on the outskirts of Faraya as the conflict spiralled out of control.

Security forces were promptly deployed around the towns of Kfardebian, Mayrouba and Hrajel, which surround Faraya, in a bid to prevent any possible repercussions.
