BEIRUT: A fistfight that broke out between a Lebanese and Kuwaiti player at Lebanon’s national football stadium has resulted in serious injuries.
The incident took place at the President Camille Chamaoun stadium (also known as Sports City) in Bir Hassan, Beirut, at 11 p.m. at the end of the match between the national teams of Kuwait and Lebanon.
The two competing players, both 23, Mohammed Ali from Lebanon and Hussein Al Mousawi from Kuwait exchanged blows during the match Saturday night.
Ali is currently being treated for head injuries at Mokassed Hospital, while Moussawi is being treated for bruising at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.
It is unclear what triggered the incident, which the authorities are now investigating.
