BEIRUT: Israeli warplanes violated Lebanese airspace over south Lebanon Thursday for the second time in two days as Parliament met for a vote of confidence.
A Lebanese Army communique released Friday said one Israeli drone and four Israeli warplanes roamed the Lebanese skies between 10:10 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. Thursday.
On Wednesday, two unpiloted planes circled the skies over south Lebanon between 7:00 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. local time, according to a similar communique. It said two similar warplanes flew over the southern border town of Naqoura, Hermel in northeast Lebanon and the Cedars between 8:05 a.m and 9:10 p.m. local time.
The overflights occurred on the second and third days of parliamentary discussions over the government’s policy statement, during which Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s Cabinet won a vote of confidence Thursday.
