BEIRUT: The repatriation of two young Lebanese women from Israel was carried out successfully Monday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) told The Daily Star.
Venus Farah Maalouf, 21, and Liliane Samir Nohra, 23, who left Lebanon as children in the wake of the Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon in 2000, entered the country around midday using the Naqoura Gate and are undergoing routine legal procedures and questioning by authorities.
The pair are the third civilians to be permitted to return to Lebanon from Israel in 2011 as part of ICRC’s ongoing humanitarian mission to reunite families displaced by conflict.
