BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army arrested at least 10 people after violence broke out in Beirut late Sunday between pro- and anti-Syrian government protesters, a security source said Monday. The source told The Daily Star the detainees are awaiting interrogation.
Sticks and stones were thrown between some 200 opponents and supporters of Syria’s President Bashar Assad in the Beirut neighborhood of Bir Hasan Sunday evening before army troops stepped in and dispersed demonstrators.
