Fires eruptin an olive grove and 2 forests

SIDON, Lebanon: A Lebanese Army helicopter doused a fire Monday that erupted in an olive grove. The fire in the southern town of Maamarieh in the Zahrani region had trapped several Civil Defense personnel.

Before the Lebanese Army intervened, the village’s residents attempted to extinguish the fire by throwing sand on the blaze in a bid to rescue the Civil Defense personnel. Forest fires also erupted in the southern regions of Talet Mar Elias and Qrayeh near Sidon.
