BEIRUT: One of the Middle East’s leading medical assemblies, which attracted over 100 regional health experts, concluded in Beirut Sunday.
The four-day, Middle East Medical Assembly (MEMA), now in its 44th edition, took place at American University Beirut (AUB).
It returned to the university for its centenary edition, having been established in 1911 at AUB’s predecessor, the Syrian Protestant College.
“In a world imperiled by disease and political uncertainties [this conference and its participants] bring hope and optimism to people of this planet,” said Dr. Samir Alam, MEMA conference chair.
Heart disease and strokes got special attention during the event, which also acted as a forum to exchange medical findings and share information about medical breakthroughs, new treatments and research.
