Qatari emir should not comment on Syria: Lahoud

BEIRUT: Former Metn lawmaker Emile Lahoud told a local television station Monday that Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifah al-Thani was not entitled to comment on the unrest in Syria.

“It’s not allowed for a person who acceded to power following a coup staged against his father to preach about democracy,” said the son of former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud.

Sheikh Hamad said over the weekend that the killing in Syria continued on a daily basis since mid-March, adding that the Syrian people will not backtrack on their demands.
