BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army confiscated over the weekend in Rashaya, southeast of the capital, a vehicle headed to Syria carrying goods for smuggling, security sources said.
The source said a pick-up truck, which was halted by the Lebanese Army in Deir al-Ashayer, Rashaya, contained perfumes, mobile phones, and electrical equipment and had been en route to Syria via an unauthorized border crossing.
The items did not include any lethal items, the source said, adding that the driver of the vehicle was detained and that a investigation into the incident has been launched.
