Seven members of the same family in Beirut shot dead: report

BEIRUT: Seven members from the same family, including several children, were found dead in the Beirut neighbourhood of Ras Naba’ late Sunday, according to local media reports.

According to local TV news reports, Ali Hajj Sleem, the father of the family, found his wife, Nawal Younis, four daughters and two sons lying dead on the floor when he returned home in Ras Naba’ on Omar Bin Khattab street.

The reports said one of the sons, Hadi, 25, had been behind the horrific incident, shooting his mother and siblings with an automatic hunting rifle before turning the weapon on himself.

Preliminary information indicated the shooting had taken place between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to the reports.

The ages of the members of the family ranged from 15 to 20.

The police has surrounded the area and closed the roads leading to the family’s home.
