Separate accidents claim lives of 2 youths in Beirut

BEIRUT: Two young Lebanese were killed in separate accidents in Beirut late Tuesday night, a police report said Wednesday.

According to the report, a Lebanese boy identified as Alex Moghalian was killed after falling from his motorbike on Beirut’s highway that connects Ashrafieh to Sin al-Fil.

One eyewitness said Moghalian’s bike plunged into an opening on the bridge. “He flew off of his motorbike and fell on the bridge’s sidewalk.”

The eyewitness added that 19-year-old Moghalian was quickly transferred to the Saint George Hospital in Ashrafieh for treatment but died hours later from the serious head injury he suffered.

Meanwhile, a 22-years-old woman was run over by an unidentified car on the Karantina highway Tuesday night. Arin Tchertchian was hit by a car meters away from Forum De Beyrouth.

Tchertchian was killed after leaving her sister’s car to get into a friend’s car, according to the report.
