BEIRUT: An American military delegation toured the Blue Line on the Lebanese-Israeli border Thursday, after holding discussions earlier in the day with Lebanese Army Commander Jean Kawhagi, the National News Agency reported.
Talks between Kahwagi and the U.S. delegation tackled military cooperation and the implementation of U.S. military aid programs to Lebanon, the NNA reported.
The delegation’s visit later in the day to Fatima Gate and the towns of Adaysseh and Wazani along Lebanon’s southern border drew criticism from Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary bloc MP Qassem Hashem.
Hashem said the delegation’s visit to south Lebanon was a violation to Lebanon’s sovereignty, and questioned its motives and timing.
“Was the Foreign Ministry aware of the visit to this sensitive area? The timing of this visit raises several questions,” he said.
