BEIRUT: The commander of the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, General Paolo Serra, said Tuesday that the peacekeeping force will increase their number of patrols in south Lebanon. “Due to the withdrawal of some Lebanese Army units from south Lebanon to the north, we will need to increase our individual patrols in the area,” Serra said during in an iftar banquet in Bint Jbeil. Earlier this month, the Lebanese Army deployed troops in the the north, as well as on the northern and eastern borders with Syria following a spate of deadly incidents.
