Deal reached with Union Coordination Committee: minister

BEIRUT: Education Minister Hassan Diab said Wednesday that an agreement has been reached with the Union Coordination Committee, a coalition of private and public school teachers and public sector employees, over the months-long dispute with public sector workers over their wage scale.

Diab said the agreement was reached in the presence of Prime Minister Najib Mikati and that the UCC would recommend that the correction of official Grade 9 and Grade 12 examinations, which have been boycotted by teachers, should recommence Thursday.
