BEIRUT: A soldier with the Joint Lebanese Security Forces was wounded overnight as more than thirty shells from the Syrian side of the border hit north Lebanon towns, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
According to the NNA, shells fell until late at night over the Akkar villages of Mejnez, Kherbet Al-Remman, Aamar Al Bikat, Debabiyeh and Nura, damaging a few houses.
Syrian shelling of Akkar villages has intensified in the past months as a result of the uprising against President Bashar Assad. The shelling has at times resulted in material damage and even the loss of Lebanese civilian lives.
