BEIRUT: Lebanese Red Cross ambulances transported Thursday nine more wounded Syrians who crossed the border via north Lebanon, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The wounded were taken to local hospitals in and around the northern city of Tripoli, the NNA said.
The United Nations estimates that more than 5,400 Syrians have been killed since March 2011 as a result of the crackdown launched by Damascus against protesters calling for reforms in the tightly controlled state.
U.N. statistics also indicate that more than 5,600 Syrians have fled to Lebanon since the outbreak of the uprising and that around 150 wounded Syrians have been treated in Lebanon.
