BEIRUT: Armed burglars stole about $7,000 worth of electrical wire overnight from a construction site in Beirut, security sources said Tuesday.
The sources said four masked thieves dressed in camouflage clothing broke into the construction site in Karantina, east Beirut, threatening workers at gunpoint.
They made off with construction tools and electrical wires and sped away in a four-wheel drive Pathfinder.

In an unrelated incident, Syrian national Ahmad Mahfouz has been reported missing since Jan. 14.
His brother, Mahmoud, went to the police station to report him missing. He said Ahmad, 34, left the house in Sabtieh in the Metn region four days ago to drop off his friend in Mansourieh, and never came back.
In the Chouf mountains southeast of Beirut, heavy rain led to the blockage of the road leading to the town of Kfranis after the collapse of a supporting wall.
