BEIRUT: A main road in the Metn town of Beit Mery has been reopened after a mudslide blocked the street, causing a heavy traffic jam as the severe rainstorm which struck Beirut Friday morning shows no sign of abating.
The Beit Mery municipality succeeded in removing the mud and rocks, which had obstructed traffic on the Monteverdi road leading to Beirut.
With a temperature high of 15 Celsius and a low of 10, the rainstorm will continue this weekend in Beirut. Several showers are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
In northern Lebanon, the Cedars region is witnessing snow and thunderstorms with a high of 1 and a low of -3. Temperatures over the weekend are expected to dip further and reach -5 on Sunday.
In East Lebanon’s Zahle region, the weather is cloudy and rainy with thunderstorms, for a high of 20 and a low of 2. Temperatures are also expected to decline over the weekend.
