BEIRUT: A U.S. Central Command general discussed his country’s military cooperation with Lebanese Army Commander Jean Kahwagi Friday, said a statement by the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon. “U.S. Central Command Major General William D. Beydler visited Lebanon today and met with Lebanese Armed Forces commander General Jean Kahwagi to discuss bilateral military cooperation,” said the statement. “In his meeting, General Beydler emphasized the strong and sustained military cooperation between the two countries,” it added. The statement said Beydler highlighted the U.S. Central Command’s support for Lebanon’s implementation of U.N. Resolution 1701 which ended Israel’s summer 2006 war against Lebanon.
