Five-day forest fire in Akkar extinguished
A+ A-

BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army and civil defense members succeeded Wednesday in extinguishing a fire that has been raging for five days in the northern district of Akkar.

The fire broke out at a forest in the outskirts of Al Qobayat village, and fire-fighters have faced difficulties reaching the blaze due to the lack of roads leading to it.

Residents tried to support fire-fighters in their mission using buckets of water and heading into the forest behind fire-fighters.

The civil defense, along with the Lebanese Army worked for five days to reach the affected green areas, as strong winds spread the fire.

Helicopters were eventually deployed and were able to extinguish the blaze shortly after.
