BEIRUT: Future Movement MP Atef Majdalani submitted Monday a draft law on food safety, saying it aims to modernize a sector which has failed to keep up with modern standards. “Food safety has become a main concern for the Lebanese, as every citizen has the human, social and economic rights for healthy food access,” Majdalani told reporters. “However,” he added, “there is a growing concern by the Lebanese over the food they consume.” In parallel, The MP slammed the government for rejecting an earlier draft law he presented on food safety, saying the issue was a crucial one that should not be subject to any debate or rebuttals.
