BEIRUT: Residents in the northern city of Tripoli blocked roads late Sunday over continuous power cuts in the area. The residents blocked the road at the Mallouleh roundabout, the northern entrance to the port city. The Lebanese Army has intervened and is working on reopening the roads. A similar protest over excessive power cuts and water shortages took place in the southern village of Qlayleh, near Tyre Sunday. Residents threatened to resort to escalatory steps if their demands are not met.
