Army deploys in Beirut neighborhood after shooting

BEIRUT: The Army said it restored order to the Beirut neighborhood of al-Tariq al-Jadideh Thursday after a personal dispute erupted into a gunfight wounding two.

Shooting took place Thursday afternoon between members of the Kremby, Taha and Awwad families, after a dispute over stimulants led to the shattering of the glass window of a sporting goods shop in the area.

In a statement released hours after the incident, the Army said "military units deployed in the area and raided neighborhoods where the shooting occurred."

"The situation has been restored to normal," the statement said.

Soldiers are in pursuit of the gunmen.
