Two soldiers killed in road accident north of Beirut

BEIRUT: Two brothers, both in the Lebanese Army, were killed Saturday in a road accident when a speeding vehicle crashed into their vehicle on the freeway leading to the capital.

Sgt. Maj. Robert Maalouf and his brother First Adjutant Johnny Maalouf were killed instantly when an Infiniti model vehicle that was speeding on the eastern lane of the Dora motorway veered onto the western lane and crashed into their Hyundai. A third occupant of the Hyundai is in serious condition.

The driver of the Infinity, Mehdi Hasan Hammoud, was lightly injured in the accident. A fourth person in a Toyota whose vehicle was also struck by the Infiniti was lightly injured.
