BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army said Tuesday it has confiscated a truck loaded with military gear, hand grenades and communication devices in east Lebanon and arrested five Syrians found inside the vehicle.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Army said intelligence agents seized the pickup truck near al-Qaa border crossing Monday evening.
It said the Army arrested the Lebanese driver and five Syrian nationals – with no legal residency permits – inside the truck after trying to avoid a General Security checkpoint at the crossing.
“A quantity of military gear, binoculars, hand grenades and communication devices were seized” from the truck, the statement added.
It said the detainees were taken to the relevant authorities for interrogation.
