Arms theft foiled at Jalil Palestinian refugee camp

BEIRUT: Residents of the Jalil Palestinian refugee camp in Baalbek foiled a plot Friday to steal arms at a warehouse belonging to the Fatah al-Intifada faction.

The two suspects were identified by their initials, W.K. and M.A. They were arrested by members of the Popular Committees, groups of residents who informally administer the camp, and were later released, without being handed over to authorities.

In a separate incident, an Army unit raided the house of Ahmad al-Jibbeh in Baalbek near Tatri Hospital and confiscated six rifles that had been stolen from an Army depot earlier.
