Sound of stun grenade raises alarm in Tyre
A+ A-

TYRE, Lebanon: An explosion heard in the Tyre region Sunday night was caused by a stun grenade, a security source told The Daily Star.

The blast coincided with Israeli overflights in the area, raising fears of an Israeli operation in the neighborhood.

The stun grenade exploded between the villages of Bidyas and Halousieh, sources said.

Lebanon has complained on several occasionsto the United Nations over Israel’s violations of Lebanese territory, in contravention of Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war.

Israel sends its warplanes on reconnaissance flights over Lebanese territory on an almost daily basis, but recently the frequency of these flights has increased.
