Kuwait fund, Layyoun sign $30 mln deal for museum
A+ A-

BEIRUT: Culture Minister Gaby Layyoun and Abdel-Wahab Badr, the director-general of the Kuwait Development Fund, signed Thursday a $30 million deal as a gift from the KDF to build “a museum for the history and ruins of the city of Beirut.”

The National News Agency said the deal amended a cooperation agreement that already existed between Lebanon and Kuwait. Speaking after the signing ceremony, Layyoun said: “The agreement existed before.

We today entered a stage to amend this agreement in the hope to sign later an agreement with Solidere, which will finance the studies for this project.”

Elsewhere, Education Minister Hassan Diab sponsored the opening of two intermediate and secondary schools, funded by Kuwait, in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

“The complex of the official Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Sabah schools” was opened in Ghobeiri, while the “the complex of Kuwait’s official schools” was inaugurated in Haret Hreik.
