MP Akl’s daughter hospitalized

BEIRUT: The health of former Batroun MP Sayed Akl’s daughter stabilized late Monday after an emergency operation, security sources told The Daily Star.

“Akl’s 48-year-old daughter, Jessy Akl, was hospitalized after shooting herself in the stomach,” a security source said, explaining the woman’s health gradually stabilized after an operation in Bitar Hospital where she is still in intensive care.

The security sources also said that an investigation is ongoing to uncover the Akl’s motives, noting, “Depression was reported to be the main reason behind her attempt at suicide.”
