BEIRUT: A mother and her two daughters were killed when a two-story building collapsed in north Lebanon Tuesday, security sources said.
Kafa Sarkis, in her fifties, and her two daughters Siham,27, and Aida, 25, were pulled from the rubble of the building in Anfeh, north Lebanon.
The three casualties were transferred to Bitar Hospital in Batroun, the sources said.
According to the sources, the two daughters suffered from physical disabilities.
They added that the family inhabited a one-room home in the second floor of the old abandoned building located in the St. Catherine neighborhood.
Sarkis, a widow, and her two daughters lived on a minimal family income.
Witnesses told the LBCI that the lower floor of the building was under renovation and that the woman was asked to leave the building because it is no longer safe.
According to the witnesses, the woman said she would wait for her son to return home before she leaves.
