Gunman wounds Fatah member in Ain al-Hilweh
A+ A-

SIDON, LEBANON: An unidentified man shot a member of Fatah and fled the scene in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh Tuesday, security sources told The Daily Star.

Sources said a masked man shot Fatah member Walid Yassine in the legs in what appeared to be a personal dispute.

Yassine was transported to the Al-Nidaa al-Insani Hospital to receive treatment. Palestinian security personal deployed in the area to prevent the violence from spreading.

The camp has seen a series of violent clashes recently, following the influx of Palestinian refugees from Syrian camps.

Palestinian officials have expressed concern that the fighting in Syria could erupt inside Lebanon’s Palestinian refugee camps, adding that they have taken several measures to contain any tensions.
