BEIRUT: The Social Affairs Ministry and the Lebanese University signed a memorandum of understanding Thursday that will enable LU to take part in drafting social policies.
The agreement was signed by Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour and LU president Adnan Sayyed Hussein at LU’s Central Administration building.
The memorandum of understanding will allow LU to participate in developing social policies in committees and councils headed by the Social Affairs Ministry.
The MoU stipulates that LU professors will hold training programs for employees of the Social Affairs Ministry and conduct studies and research that the ministry requests.
The agreement also allows LU to offer a diploma in specialties related to the ministry’s work. Speaking during the event, Sayyed Hussein said that cooperation would not only be in research related to social sciences, but would also include issues related to family, health and education.
