Connelly offers condolences for victims of Syria shelling

BEIRUT: U.S. Ambassador Maura Connelly met Tuesday with Prime Minister Najib Mikati to offer her country’s condolences for Lebanese killed and injured by last weekend’s Syrian shelling of border villages in the north.

President Michel Sleiman and Mikati urged Syria Sunday to stop shelling Lebanese territory after four people were killed by gunfire from Syria.
