One dead, three injured in n. Lebanon avalanche

TRIPOLI: One person was killed and three people were injured Wednesday when in an avalanche in north Lebanon.

The four were riding snow-mobiles when the avalanche approached them on the bottom of the Mekmel Mountain near the Dinniyeh northern region.

Sayed Karam was pronounced dead at the hospital while the injured were identified as Joseph Tulani, Mohsen Iskander and Andre Nuzeira, the sources said, adding that they were transferred to hospital for treatment in Zghorta.

Lebanese Army helicopters and rescue teams, who rushed to the scene following news of the avalanche, are still looking for possible missing persons.
