BEIRUT: A middle-aged man was crushed to death Thursday on Dbayeh highway, north of Beirut, just meters away from a pedestrian bridge.

Security sources said the 48-year-old man was crossing the busy Dbayeh highway when an Oldsmobile jeep crushed him, some 50 meters away from the pedestrian bridge over the highway.

The jeep driver, identified as Philippe Soaibi, handed himself in to police.
