BEIRUT: A grenade found early Thursday in the men’s restroom of a KFC outlet in Chtaura, east Lebanon, has been removed.
Security sources told The Daily Star that the KFC branch in Chtaura received an anonymous call at 4 a.m., informing them that a hand grenade had been planted in the men’s toilet.
The telephone operator immediately notified police, who arrived shortly after.
A bomb disposal team removed the grenade from the restaurant.
Police said the bomb was Western-made and not set to blow up.
An investigation is under way to identify those behind the grenade and security footage from on and near the premises of KFC is to be reviewed, the sources said.
