BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Salim Hoss voiced his concern Thursday that the violence in Syria, which has been ongoing for nearly two years, could reach Lebanon if the crisis in the neighboring country lasts any longer. “I am afraid that unrest in Syria will spill over into Lebanon if the crisis drags on, although this time, some Lebanese politicians demonstrated maturity by working on distancing Lebanon from events in Syria,” Hoss told a delegation from the Union of Journalists that visited him at his home. The former premier added that Russia has “not been active” in seeking an end to the crisis. Hoss also urged politicians to endorse an electoral law that would divide Lebanon into bigger districts, under proportional representation. “The bigger the district is, the better the outcome will be for the Lebanese.”
