BEIRUT: Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour briefed British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher on the government’s plan to aid Syrian refugees Tuesday.
Following the meeting, Fletcher said that the discussion was very positive and praised the comprehensive plan which the government has passed.
He stressed the need for all parties involved “to exert more efforts to help the families displaced from their homes in Syria especially under the current harsh weather conditions.”
Later, Fletcher tweeted on his account that the “Storm this week hit families hard.”
He added, “Amid lively refugee debate: Lebanon has obligations and internationals do too.”
In December 2012, Britain increased its aid to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq to $100 million.
