NABATIEH, Lebanon: Thieves took advantage of recent stormy weather to steal copper from electric cables in several southern villages, the Central News Agency reported Thursday. The theft caused power outages in the villages of Arzay, Zrarieh and Kharayeb. A security source told the news agency that police have recently arrested two men, identified as Ahmad Abdullah and Rabih Asmar, near the village of Zifta after finding stolen electric cables in their car. He said that more than 3,000 meters of cable were stolen from Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil and Tyre districts.
