Lebanese man dies in elevator shaft fall

BEIRUT: A man fell to his death overnight in an elevator shaft in Dora, Greater Beirut, police said Monday.

The man was identified as Rabih Mqashmar, 50, the police said.

In the Chouf Mountains southeast of Beirut, four-year-old Malak Awad was admitted to the Sibline public hospital. The hospital said the child was already dead when she was admitted.

Police said the coroner would examine the body to determine the cause of death.

In the coastal city of Jounieh, north of Beirut, an Ethiopian domestic worker died soon after her employers admitted her to Our Lady of Lebanon Hospital.

Police said the maid died of a severe heart attack, adding that the coroner would examine her body to find out the exact cause of death.

In east Lebanon, Ibrahim Hussein al-Hadri, 51, died from electric shock in the bathroom of his residence in Taalbaya. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Chtaura.
