BEIRUT: Environment Minister Nazem al-Khoury cautioned Monday that efforts to date to protect the Lebanese ecosystem was not enough, the Central News Agency reported.

Khoury spoke during a workshop organized by The Center for Water, Energy and Environment at the Notre Dame University, entitled “Cooperation with Civil Society for a Better Environment.”

Khoury warned against “the deteriorating environmental conditions in Lebanon,” adding that the “national catastrophes that Lebanon has suffered from during the last few years and will suffer from in the future are connected to the major changes [in the country’s environment].”
