Rape suspect commits suicide in Roumieh

BEIRUT: An inmate in Roumieh prison on rape charges committed suicide Thursday morning, security sources told The Daily Star.

Ghassan al-Sandaqli, in his forties, strangled himself with a scarf, the sources said.

The prisoner, who was recently moved from Building D to Building B in Roumieh, was found dead in his cell.

The sources said that Sandaqli has previously attempted suicide twice, but failed.
