BEIRUT: Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi announced Friday that public transport will be improved in the near future, the National News Agency reported.
“We insist that this directorate is developed and modernized and within the few coming days we will look into new offers to buy buses to secure public transportation to all regions across Lebanon,” Aridi said during a ceremony to welcome Ziad Nasr, the new railway and public transportation director, in Mar Mikhael.
Aridi stressed the government should make a strategic decision concerning the railway in particular, saying that due to current infringements “taking a decision regarding this issue is not the sole responsibility of the Public Works Ministry.”
All of the infringements come from after the civil war when services were halted.
