BEIRUT: Teachers and public sector employees will go on strike again Wednesday to exert pressure on the government to refer to Parliament a long-awaited salary raise. “The Union Coordination Committee announces a general strike Wednesday after more than one minister said that there are no justifiable economic reasons for not referring it,” a statement by the UCC said. The union threatened an open-ended strike in February if the government continued to ignore its demands.
