BEIRUT: Three people were injured Thursday morning when a truck skidded off the Nahr al-Mot bridge in Beirut, security sources told The Daily Star.
The sources said that the truck, loaded with cement, skidded off the bridge near City Mall and landed on several cars below.
One of the injuried, a taxi driver identified as Walid al-Jardali, is in critical condition, said the sources.
The other two only had mild wounds and were treated at the scene by the Red Cross.
Separately, a young Lebanese man was killed at dawn on Thursday when his car crashed into a shop wall in the Metn town of Jal al-Dib.
Maurice Hayek, 19, lost control of his vehicle while driving at a high speed and crashed into the wall of the Wooden Bakery shop in Jal al-Dib.
