BEIRUT: Residents in Kesrouan briefly blocked two main roads Friday in response to the killing of two men from the northeast region and demanded security forces arrest the murderer swiftly.

Tens of people blocked the Hadi Nasrallah Highway with burning tires over the killing of Ghassan Saifeddine and his son Hadi.

Hours later, dozens also blocked the road connecting Wata al-Joz and Maryouba.

Ghassan Saifeddine and his son were both shot and killed Thursday after Saifeddine, a truck driver, got into an argument with a driver of another truck. Saifeddine pulled a knife during the fight.

The Lebanese Army was able Friday to negotiate with the residents to reopen the roads.

Relatives of the deceased vowed not to bury the bodies of the men until the killer is brought to justice.
