Rifi: Assassination probes to continue
A+ A-

BEIRUT: Head of the Internal Security Forces Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi vowed Sunday that the investigations into the assassinations of Maj. Wissam Eid and head of the ISF Information Branch Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan would continue.

Rifi spoke during a visit to Eid’s residence in the Akkar village of Deir Ammar, where he offered his condolences to Eid’s family before heading to his grave to lay a wreath.

Earlier in the day two memorials were held in Deir Ammar for late Lebanese Army’s chief of operations Gen. Francois el-Hajj and Eid at the entrance of Minyeh.

Hajj was assassinated in a car bomb in the Baabda neighborhood of Yarze on Dec. 12, 2007. Family members of the assassination victims lit candles in honor of their relatives at the site of the 2008 explosion that killed Eid, a communications analyst with the Information Branch, and five others in the Beirut neighborhood of Chevrolet.
